Well done Jean!

Jean was instrumental in establishing the Aldermaston Players, when in February 1996, with her catering skills, she cooked and ran the kitchen; as well as front of house and box office for the first Dinner/Theatre Evenings at Aldermaston Parish Hall. These February Dinner/Theatre productions continued until 2011 when the Aldermaston Players became a formal drama group. Jean was one of the 8 founding members of the Players and has continued to run the catering side of Aldermaston Players ever since. It is only this year that she stepped away from actually cooking because of a bad back. In the 28 years these Dinner/Theatre Evenings have raised in excess of £40,000 for Aldermaston Parish Hall.

In addition, for 11 years, 1997-2007, Jean was wardrobe mistress for the Aldermaston York Nativity Play looking after the medieval costumes for this rendition of the Nativity stories from the York Mystery Cycles. She has been a member of the acapella choir at the Nativity Play for many years and has stood in for one of the hand maidens in an emergency.

Prior to her involvement with the Players Jean was involved with productions at the Parish Hall when she was a youth leader and as member and chair of the local ladies group.
