Aldermaston Players

2019 Lucky Stiff

For February 2019 dinner theatre evenings, Aldermaston Players put on the musical farce, Lucky Stiff.

The

book and lyrics were written by Lynn Ahrens, and the music by Stephen Flaherty. The story is based on  “The Man Who Broke The Bank At Monte Carlo” by Michael Butterworth.

Lucky Stiff is an offbeat, hilarious murder mystery farce complete with mistaken identities, six million-dollars-worth of diamonds, and a corpse in a wheelchair. The story revolves around Harry Witherspoon, an unworldly shoe salesman from East Grinstead, who is forced to take the embalmed body of his recently murdered uncle, Tony Hendon, on a vacation to Monte Carlo. Should he succeed in fulfilling all the terms and conditions of his Uncle’s will, Harry stands to inherit six million dollars. If not, the money goes to the Universal Dog Home of Brooklyn, his late Uncle’s favourite charity.
