The modern Aldermaston Players were born in February 1996 when a collection of villagers decided to put on Dinner/Theatre evenings to raise funds for the Parish Hall. None of us thought we would still be doing it over 2 decades later.
Jean Chapman lead the catering, Sally Boott front of house and Chris Boott designed a show and invited friends from Sainsbury Singers to form a troupe of players. The result was an Old Time Music Hall, taking its inspiration from Leeds Variety Theatre’s Good Old Days as it appeared on BBC TV.
There followed annual February Dinner/Theatre productiona of either a Music Hall, a play or a musical revue (see Past Shows) until 2011 when the Players formed their own organisation in order to expand their repertoire.
The success of these evenings has not only provided our patrons with excellent food and entertainment but raised around £28,000 for the Parish Hall by 2011.
