We’ll Meet Again , the title of the show, is obviously taken from the Vera Lynn wartime hit and places this show in time. Previous years had seen The Players do variety shows in the form of Music Hall but these were all set around Victorian period, Edwardian period and WWI. This show emulated a WWII concert party as famously put on by E.N.S.A. – Entertainments National Service Association or more affectionately known as Every Night Something Awful. Full of songs and sketches from the 1939-1940 era this show was a step back to a nostalgic time.

I.T.M.A. – It’s that man again

ITMA was a very popular wartime radio show from the BBC staring Tommy Handley. We were able to find some scripts of episodes and were able to recreate one … so, like the original, we performed live from a radio theatre to a live audience, with on stage sound effects!

Robb Wilton

Robb Wilton was a comic genius of his day and was a major influence on comedians that followed. It was he that instigated the famous “Over the Wall” sketches that Les Dawson brought back to TV screens in the late 20th century. We performed two of his sketches in the show: Home Guard and The Police Station
