Aldermaston Court Dramatic Society (1950/60s)

Discovered in recent years on e-Bay are the two programmes from the 1950s

Some enquiries in the village unearthed the facts that A.E.I. (Associated Electrical Industries research laboratories), who in the 1950s took over Aldermaston Court (now Aldermaston Manor House), had both a choir and a drama society.

The AEI Dramatic Society built their own theatre in one of the Nissan huts that existed to the south of the Manor house. The ‘theatre’ was one of the huts near the water tower according to Denis Carter who was an apprentice at AEI and went on to be the estate manager for Blue Circle.

Further research has unearthed a charming obituary of one of the founder members – Peter Holmes. Click here to read.
